Japanese musician Kitaro will be making his grand return to Singapore this September for his one-night only concert. Presented by JP Entertainment, Shaw Brothers Live Entertainment and FriedRice Entertainment, THE BEST OF KITARO WORLD TOUR IN SINGAPORE 2025 will be held on 17 September 2025 (Wednesday), 8PM at The Star Theatre.
Grammy and Golden Globe-winning composer Kitaro is a true pioneer of instrumental and New Age music. For over four decades, he has created a genre-defining sound that blends electronic synthesis, traditional Japanese instrumentation, and Western melodic sensibilities into immersive, spiritual soundscapes that transcend borders and generations.
After early influences from American rock and R&B, Kitaro launched his solo career in 1978 with Astral Voyage. He gained global recognition in 1980 with his iconic soundtrack for NHK’s The Silk Road, which introduced his music to international audiences. In 1987, he released The Light of the Spirit with Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart, earning a Grammy nomination and further solidifying his global status. He went on to collaborate with Jon Anderson of Yes on Dream and won a Golden Globe for his score for Oliver Stone’s Heaven & Earth.
Since signing with Domo Records in 1994, Kitaro has released numerous landmark albums including Mandala, Kojiki, Sacred Journey of Ku-Kai and Symphony Live in Istanbul—the latter recorded with a full orchestra and earning his 16th Grammy nomination.
In 2023, he celebrated the 35th anniversary of Daishizan Seidai-ji Temple in Japan with a breathtaking concert before the Echizen Daibutsu, Japan’s tallest seated Buddha. That performance is captured in his latest release, Zen: Live in Katsuyama, featuring rare classics and a new taiko-infused piece, “Prayer for Mother Earth”.
With a message of peace, unity, and inner reflection, Kitaro’s music has inspired millions worldwide—from global tours to Olympic ceremonies to collaborations with spiritual leaders. With 17 Grammy nominations, a Grammy win and decades of influence, Kitaro remains a timeless voice in music for the soul.
As part of his world tour, Kitaro will be making a Singapore stop on 17 September, promising a one night-only show with his greatest classics such as “Matsuri”, “Caravansary” and “Heaven and Earth”.
